Mike Watney

Mike Watney, head golf coach at Fresno State University, was inducted into the Golf Coaches Association of America Hall of Fame in 2007. He has been named the Southwest Region Coach of the Year, WAC Coach of the Year and Big West Coach of the Year six times.

“For me, the JGANC is the first place I look for recruits. I recruit almost exclusively in California and Northern California is most convenient for me to watch players in tournaments. One great thing about golf is that I can look at the scores. If you shoot 71-70-69 at a decent golf course, you will win whether it is a Nor Cal event or an AJGA event. The Nor Cal event will cost you a lot less money and you can play more of them. The JGANC gives you great exposure for your dollar.”
