These awards honor exceptional sportsmanship, dedication, and performance across the season — from the prestigious Len Ross Sportsmanship Award to Points Champions and Low Scoring Average leaders. Meet the talented young athletes who exemplify the very best of Northern California junior golf.
SPORTSMANSHIP: LEN ROSS AWARD
The Len Ross Sportsmanship Award is named for a wonderful gentleman and one of the founding fathers of the JGANC. The meaning for sportsmanship in the dictionary is given as the qualities or conduct of a good sportsman, especially insistence on fair play accompanied by the capacity to win or lose gracefully. This award has many candidates each year, as the JGANC is filled with outstanding sportsmanship at each tournament. This award will go to one female and one male JGANC Members who best exemplify the spirit of the game by their attitude, demeanor, and treatment of their fellow competitors.
POINTS CHAMPIONSHIP AWARD
Though the entire JGANC season points are awarded at each tournament. At the end of the year the JGANC recognizes the boy and girl who have tallied the most points during the season. This is the result of hard work, great talent and deciding to play in many JGANC sanctioned tournaments.
PLAYERS OF THE YEAR AWARD
The Players of the Year recognize a boy and girl member for their outstanding golf year with the JGANC. Frequently these recipients also top the points standing as well, but the criteria for this award also includes recognizing the players’ ability to compete at the highest levels in our championships and on teams. LOW SCORING AVERAGE AWARD
This award will be given to one boy from the age division of 14-18 and one girl from the age division 12-18 who has established the lowest scoring average by playing in a minimum of six rounds not including the TOC Championship.
