Walt McConologue, Oakland

One of the four founding fathers of the JGANC. He was known as Mr. Junior Golf. He was the person who selected tournaments each year to be used for points. He founded the Boys North Team and worked with Bill Bryant of Southern California to establish the North/South Matches. He served as North Team Captain, Hogan Cup Captain and boys Junior America’s Cup Captain. He was JGANC President 1971. The JGANC named two college scholarships in his name.

Fred Williams, Santa Rosa

One of the four founding fathers of the JGANC. He was the tournament director of his own tournament, the Cypress Hills Junior, and wrote and published the first JGANC newsletter. This was done the old fashion way without computers and run off on a mimeograph machine. He mailed each newsletter to individual junior members. The JGANC named our future newsletters as the Fred Williams Memorial Newsletter.

Charlie Culver, Salinas

One of the four founding fathers of the JGANC. He was tournament director of his own event, the Charlie Culver Junior Masters now known as a memorial event. Served on numerous committees.

Len Ross, Fresno

One of the four founding fathers of the JGANC. He is tournament director of his own event, Len Ross Fresno City Championship. His foundation provides golf opportunities for juniors in the Fresno area. He served on the USGA junior committee, held USGA qualifier for the valley area and supervised JGANC members a the USGA Junior Amateur Championships. Served as chairman of the Boys California State Junior Amateur Championships and set up NorCal host venues for years to come.

Joe Penaflor, Hollister

He served as Boys Junior America’s Cup Captain and was the chief scoreboard calligrapher for the association. He served on the scholarship committee and devoted each year to the Girls North/South Matches being a marker.

Hank Zastrow, Lodi

Played JGANC tournaments as a junior to return to serve as President 1992-1993. He was tournament director of the Tokay Junior and served on the USGA junior committee conducting area qualifier for boys. He published the JGANC newsletter from 1993-1996. He also served as the Boys North Team Captain.

Bob McMichael, Sacramento

Served as President in 1987-1988 and again in 1997-1998. He was treasurer of the JGANC for four years and assisted in Boys USGA qualifying in the Sacramento area.

Sally Pini, Santa Cruz

Served as President 1975 and as Executive Secretary beginning in 1976 establishing the JGANC office in a bedroom of her home. The office remained in her home until 2003. She was responsible for all correspondence, membership and produced a yearbook each year for each member. This was done before computers so it was a cut/paste procedure setting up each page to go to a local printer. She was tournament director of the Pasatiempo Junior and served as Boys Junior America’s Cup Captain as well as the Boys Hogan Cup Captain. She also served on the scholarship committee. The JGANC established a scholarship in her name, and the Boys Junior America’s Cup established a memorial award in her honor. TOC Chairman 1970-2003.

John Mills, Fremont

Carol Orona, Morro Bay

She was Executive Secretary 2003-2009, JGANC President 1999-2002, established Girls North/South Matches in 1997 and the Mary Cave Cup in 2002, Girls Junior America’s Cup Captain 1991-2009, created JGANC website and published JGANC newsletter 1997-2010. She created Junior Advisors Team Shoot out 1999 and served as advisor to Junior Advisors 1986-2010.
