The U.S. National Development Program (USNDP) is the USGA’s premier initiative to identify, train, develop, and support America’s top junior golfers (ages 13-18). Team Northern California provides elite local players with advanced coaching, competitive opportunities, and a clear pathway to national teams and beyond.
US NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
The USGA is expanding its State Junior Team Program that will support the pipeline for elite junior golfers ages 13-18 into the U.S. National Development Program (USNDP). Nine new teams will be established in 2025, joining the seven teams launched earlier this year and advancing the USGA’s goal of all 50 states having a team by 2033.
In 2025, the team program will be rolled out in California (Northern), Delaware, Idaho, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and West Virginia through the USGA’s close collaboration with its allied golf associations (AGAs) and the PGA of America. Rosters for these nine teams will be released late next year.

TEAM SELECTION CRITERIA
- In order to be eligible for selection to Team Northern California, an athlete must satisfy the following requirements:
- Nationality: An athlete must be a United States citizen. Athletes with dual citizenship must comply with the IGF Nationality Policy.
- Age: An athlete must be 14 years old by Jan. 1, 2025, have not reached their 19th birthday by July 19, 2025, and must not be enrolled in college for the 2025-2026 school year.
- Amateur Status: An athlete must be an amateur under the current Rules of Amateur Status and there may be no current or pending matters that may impact their amateur status.
- Conduct: An athlete must not currently be under suspension or subject to other sanctions or disciplinary process from the USGA, an Allied Golf Association (“AGA”) or any other golf organization or event organizers.
- Cannot be a member of the National Junior Team.
