The North/South California State Boys Championship is an annual team match pitting top junior boys from Northern and Southern California against each other. Held over 36 holes, this prestigious rivalry event showcases elite regional talent and competitive spirit. Team Northern California proudly represents the North each year.

BOYS NORTH TEAM
Boys North Teams are part of the California State Junior Amateur. Ten boys make up our North Teams. They play matches against the teams representing Southern California. The North/South Matches take place the day before the California State Junior Amateur.
TEAM SELECTION CRITERIA AND TIMELINE FOR 2026
The JGANC Teams will be determined by the results of these 6 qualifying events. Players can earn team points to qualify for the JGANC Teams. Team points will be awarded from the 14-18 division.

After the last event, boys with the most points from all six events will be totaled, and the top 4 players will have the first choice of which team they would like to play on. We will move down the list until all teams have been filled.
JGANC NORTH/SOUTH CUP MATCHES
Teams will be formed from the divisional points list, using the following criteria. Starting January 1st to June 1st of the year.
Boys North Team:
• Top 4 boys from the 16-18
• Top 4 Boys from the 14-15
• 2 Captain Picks
Additional factors include being an active member in our JGANC program, record of good sportsmanship, no no-shows, overall attitude & personal character. All selections are approved by the JGANC board of Directors.
CALIFORNIA STATE JUNIOR AMATEUR
The California State Junior is an annual event that is coordinated jointly with the Junior Golf Association of Southern California (SCPGA). This 36-hole stroke play event is hosted on alternate years by the SCPGA and the JGANC and rotates between Northern and Southern California.
Invitations to qualified juniors are sent after the JGANC/NCGA NorCal Player’s Championship. Typically, there are some invitations that are declined, and some qualified SCPGA Junior Tour players may also decline. When invitations are declined, we move down the points list to the next available player(s).
BOYS CALIFORNIA STATE JUNIOR AMATEUR SELECTION CRITERIA
Invitations are sent to JGANC membership based on age and total team points. Participants must be 14-18 years of age to receive an invitation. The host committee determines the number of invitations allowed.
JGANC members earn an invitation by (1) being among the top 40 eligible boys in Team Points. Team points are accumulated from events after the NorCal Players Championship in the previous through the NorCal Players Championship of the current year. Eligible members will earn a spot on the Boys North Team, and or, an invitation to the California Junior Amateur.

Team selection timeline is based on points tabulated from January 1st to June 1st of the year.
