The Mary Cave Cup is a prestigious 36-hole better-ball team competition for top junior girls (ages 14-18), established in 2004. Named in honor of dedicated volunteer Mary Cave, it features elite teams from across the Western U.S. and beyond. Team Northern California proudly competes each year in this premier girls’ event.

MARY CAVE CUP TEAMS
The Mary Cave Cup team consists of four girls selected to play as two better-ball teams. The girls are selected by using score average and ranking. This event is used for experience in preparation for the America’s Cup team. This is the eighth year of the event and teams from many Western States participate.
This event is equivalent to the Boys’ Hogan Cup Matches. The event is named for a wonderful woman who had been instrumental in women’s golf in the San Diego area. She established the first women’s golf team at San Diego State and is in the Golf Hall of Fame. Unfortunately, Ms. Cave passed away early in the year and we are pleased to know Mary knew about her tournament and attended for several years until her health declined.
The JGANC sponsors two (2)-person teams to compete in this event. The format is two days of four-ball stroke play.
TEAM SELECTION CRITERIA AND TIMELINE FOR 2026
The JGANC Teams will be determined by the results of these 6 qualifying events. Players can earn team points to qualify for the JGANC Teams. Team points will be awarded from the 14-18 division.

After the last event, girls with the most points from all six events will be totaled, and the top 4 players will have the first choice of which team they would like to play on. We will move down the list until all teams have been filled.
