Walt McConologue stands as one of the true founding figures of the Junior Golf Association of Northern California (JGANC), widely respected throughout the region as “Mr. Junior Golf.” As one of the organization’s four founding fathers, McConologue played a central role in shaping the structure, competition, and long-term vision of junior golf in Northern California.
He was instrumental in selecting the annual tournament schedule used for points standings and was a driving force behind the creation of the Boys North Team. Working alongside Bill Bryant of Southern California, he also helped establish the prestigious North/South Matches, a tradition that continues to define elite junior competition.
